The Radio Room

The  SS Passat was taken out of duty as cargo sailing ship and got her place in the “Passathafen” on the peninsula Priwall in front of Travemuende. The ship is owned by the Hanse City of Luebeck. Especially in cooperation with the “Rettet die Passat e.V.” society she was rebuilt and suited as a historical maritime museum. Besides this assignment a lot of cabins have been built in for renting away to interested groups and parties for meetings and overnight stay possibilities as well as some saloons.
In 2008 the idea was born to rebuilt the radio room as part of the museum. A bigger room was chosen to integrate additionally a technical space for the local VHF FM broadcast radio station “Offener Kanal Luebeck” and an Amateur Radio Club Station
DLØKEG.
The main step was done in May 2009 when having the main furniture and apparatus installed. Some old parts are still missing. And the “crew” hopes to find further sources or sponsors to help them to get the room completed.
< On the left you see the result by Nov.2009.
